How do you summarise leadership?

There are so many books you can read on being a good leader and they offer great insight into what makes a great leader. I have a simple philosophy…

  1. Be there for your team, give them a safe space to manage, and be available to support and guide.

  2. Create a clear ethos, vision, and values to follow, then live up to them and encourage your team to do likewise.

  3. Be willing to have the tough conversations, but do it from a position of authenticity and genuine desire to help.

  4. Balance the priorities of your business with the welfare of your team, if this balance is not right success is not sustainable.

  5. Encourage criticism and feedback from your team and peers, an open and honest environment allows creativity and performance to flourish.
